Frequently asked questions
Everything about how ShowBay's AI showroom pipeline actually works.
Getting Started
JPG, PNG and WEBP, up to 20MB per photo. You can upload up to 15 vehicle photos in a single batch.
No. You can pick from the built-in Standard and Premium showroom library, or upload your own real showroom photo instead — both go through the same AI compositing pipeline.
It's purely a tier label on the showroom library, shown as a filter on the Showroom Setup page. Both are real photographed environments, not renders.
How Generation Works
ShowBay sends your vehicle photo and the showroom photo to Google's Gemini image model in a single call. It preserves the vehicle's exact shape, colour and details, and places it into the real showroom with matched lighting, perspective and shadows — it isn't a cutout pasted on top.
On the Preview screen, drag the car and logo frames directly onto the showroom photo. That exact position is rendered into a layout guide image and sent to the AI alongside your photos, so the placement you see is what gets generated.
The Description, Style, Lighting, Camera/Composition and Additional Instructions fields on the Preview screen are all sent as extra guidance in the same request — the vehicle and showroom photos remain the source of truth, and this text only steers style within that.
Typically 10–20 seconds per photo, depending on model load. You'll see a live status per photo on the Processing screen, not a fake progress bar.
You'll see the real error under that photo on the Processing screen (for example a content policy rejection or a network issue) rather than being silently sent to an empty Results page.
Branding & Logos
Your real logo image is sent to the AI along with the layout guide, and it blends the logo into the scene the way a real printed sign or decal would sit in a photograph — not stamped on afterward as a flat sticker.
Credits & Account
Click the status pill in the top header or the "Check Status" button in the sidebar. It runs a real, on-demand check against the configured Gemini account and shows the actual result — it never polls automatically, since each check is a real billed request.
Your photos and results are stored for real in a MySQL database and on disk here (unlike the Next.js prototype, which only keeps them in your browser's IndexedDB) — that's the whole point of this CodeIgniter build. They're still sent to the Gemini API only for processing.
Not yet — ShowBay is currently a prototype. See the Pricing page for the intended plan structure.
Still have a question?
The best way to understand the pipeline is to try it on one of your own vehicle photos.
